Cedar Grove

Cedar Grove consists of 4.5 square miles of rolling, wooded hills nestled in north western Essex County. The approximately 12,000 residents take pride in having a small town atmosphere while being just minutes away from the facilities and cultural offerings of larger towns such as neighboring Montclair as well as New York City which is only 12 miles away.
Cedar Grove is only a very short drive from major highways that provide access to the George Washington Bridge, Lincoln or Holland Tunnels, Newark Airport and points north or south on the Garden State Parkway. Many Cedar Grove homes are within a short distance of New Jersey Transit bus routes, which offer a 55-minute commute to the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan. New Jersey Transit buses to Manhattan are also available at the nearby Willowbrook Mall Park & Ride, and New Jersey Transit train service to Manhattan, or Hoboken is available in Little Falls and Montclair.
Cedar Grove has a traditional K-12 school system. Two elementary schools, one at each end of town, serve grades K-4. Kindergarten students have the option of half or full day attendance. The high school serves grades 9-12 and the new middle school on Ridge Road hosts grades 5-8.
Cedar Grove has a full time police force and a volunteer fire department and rescue squad. Conveniently located just a few blocks from the central business district, the Cedar Grove Community Park offers a baseball field, a community swimming pool and six public tennis courts. Shoppers will find a large supermarket as well as assorted shops and services. Additional shopping is available at the nearby Willowbrook Mall. The nearest hospital is Mountainside Hospital in Montclair/Glen Ridge.
